Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary, Minnesota

Park Information

Just east of Downtown St. Paul, this park is a haven of nature surrounded by industrial land, a unique juxtaposition of nature and urbanity. Nearly 30 acres of former industrial land has been restored to its former natural state, winning the City of St. Paul several awards at the state and national level for its efforts. Here you can hike and bike on a few miles of trail near tall limestone and sandstone bluffs with great views of the downtown skyline. In addition, there is an educational bee apiary and interpretive signs about the park and the history of Carver's Cave -- the site of a former brewery hidden in the bluffs. There are no opportunities for camping here or nearby, but lodging is aplenty in the city.
