Located along I-40 in Northern Arizona, Petrified Forest National Park protects a unique part of the Colorado Plateau with hundreds of fossilized trees. It's definitely worth a stop for anyone driving by!

There are a limited number of developed trails in the park, but there are plenty of off-trail routes in the backcountry -- ask a ranger for more information. The Giant Logs Trail provides a guided introduction to the petrified forest with some of the largest specimens in the park.
