Rating: ★★★★☆(4/5) - Worth a Trip
Located in the scenic St. Francois Mountains of the Ozarks of Southeastern Missouri, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park is home to several state superlatives: the highest mountain, the highest waterfall, and views of the deepest valley. While the view from the top of Taum Sauk Mountain is covered with trees, an overlook along the side of the road provides excellent views of the mountains to the north. Camping is available in 12 sites within the park.
Hiking is the best way to enjoy the park. The trail to the top of Taum Sauk Mountain is paved, flat, and wheelchair accessible. The most popular hike in the park is the loop to Mina Sauk Falls. You can also access the Taum Sauk Section of the Ozark Trail and hike all the way to Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park.
