The largest of all Minnesota State Parks, here you can be surrounded by forested wilderness on the banks of the St. Croix River. Hiking is the primary recreational activity here. You can camp in the main developed campground or stay at one of many backpack or canoe/kayak campsites.
Due to the size of the park, most of the trails require hiking long distances. The family friendly hikes are mostly near the main campground, like the Hiking Club Trail. Other trail highlights include the Two Rivers Trail and the Kettle River Highbanks Trail. For a long distance trek, the Matthew Lourey State Trail, a segment of the Willard Munger State Trail, cuts through the park.
