In the southwest corner of Minnesota (almost South Dakota), you can find this park complete with a herd of 100 bison and teepees for rent. This is probably the best Minnesota State Park located in the prairie of the western side of the state. Camp at the main developed campground or in one of the cart-in sites for a more secluded spot.
Most of the hiking trails run parallel to the pink quartzite cliffs in the southeastern portion of the park. See the bison herd via the Mound Trail or the Western Loop Trail. For views of the cliffs, hike down to the Lower Cliffline Trail. No matter what trail you choose, the network makes it easy to do a loop that meets your skill level.
